We recently tried out a toddler pillow from The Original Calla Pillow. Here is how it looks.
Here is the info on this pillow right from their site.
- Washability
- Durability
- Comfort/Safety
- Organic (this means no pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and usually no flame retardants – yes that’s a good thing)
Washability.
Many of the premium pillows available for your toddler have one major flaw…they can’t be washed – Memory foam pillows, cotton filled pillows or other organics (like wool) can’t be washed or are ruined when they are washed. If for any number of reasons, their pillow get’s dirty, you’re left with putting a clean pillow case on a soiled pillow.
Because toddlers can be tough on their pillows, a washable pillow is a must. It’s like insurance for the next time they spill a drink in bed. Or they get sick. Or give their pillow a bath in a puddle. Or any variety of surprising “accidents.” A washable pillow is a must.
Not all washable pillows are the same. A pillow can be labeled “washable”, yet read the reviews online of how many moms had the pillow clump up and ruined.
So why does this happen?
The filling inside the Calla Toddler Pillow is ‘pre-clustered” into micro parts so it doesn’t clump up like many other ‘washable pillows.’
When your pillow first arrives, after giving it a squeeze, after holding it to your face to feel how soft it is, put it in the wash. Try it. Seriously.
Wash low/no heat. Tumble Dry Low/No Heat.
If it doesn’t wash and dry to your 100% satisfaction – send it back.
Organic.
Why organic?
Not just because its good for the earth.
Organic cotton is more durable than traditional 200 thread count cotton shells you’ll find on most toddler pillows.
It is stronger, cleaner and higher quality.
But the most important reason you should choose organic is because it is grown without herbicides, fungicides, insecticides or pesticides.
Your child will spend a lot of time with their head on a pillow during the next year.
Invest in quality and get peace of mind.
Comfort & Safety.
We’ve spent a lot of time talking with moms and grandmas, dads, grandpas, and pediatricians.
Because this is an important decision.
Pillows that are too flat won’t provide enough support.
Pillows that are too soft will improperly align your child’s head.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends children NOT use a pillow before the age of two. We believe you should always talk to your pediatrician before introducing a pillow into your toddler’s life.
And when that time comes, you’ll want a pillow that will last until they outgrow it.
Our pillows are designed to provide the right amount of support for your toddler for 3+ years.
No Clump, Never Flat.
The best organic toddler pillow on the market
We’ve tested pillows that are too thick, too thin, too soft, too firm. We arrived with pillow that most toddlers find very comfortable (and you will too).

I put this in my toddlers bed and he uses it every night. As a mom I really love that you can put it in the washer. I cant tell you how many times recently I had to throw his pillow away after he threw up on it and I couldn't get rid of that smell. This idea is smart and I think it is awesome. it is a must have to add one of these to your stash. I also like this size for myself for traveling in the car and I will be bringing it along with us when we go on vacation so I can get some sleep in the car.
