How to Make Your Destination Wedding Go Off Without a Hitch

So you’re getting married. Congratulations! Where do you start with all of the planning? For many couples getting married can be overwhelming simply due to a wedding takes a lot of time and preparation, but your joyous day needn’t be stressful. In fact, if you plan to fly somewhere new to get hitched, there are some tips you can follow to ensure that your destination goes off without a hitch.



Hire a wedding planner

Some brides prefer to hire a wedding planner simply because it’s a wedding planner’s job to organize a wedding and make sure everything goes swimmingly. If you’re a bit of a control freak aka Bridezilla (don’t worry, most of us are a little bit when we get married), then this may not be for you. However, it’s okay to relinquish some of the control to a wedding planner. You may not think she knows what she’s doing but in time she’ll undoubtedly win your trust.

Settle on a location early on

Setting a wedding date is important, but so is deciding on a location. If you select a place that you’ve been to before that may be a better idea than deciding on going to a place you’ve never set eyes on. Why? Because you won’t have to research a place and get to know the city nearly as much as you would have to if you decided on a new location. Knowing where your wedding will take place ahead of time will also allow you to tell your family members earlier on in the wedding process, so they can start saving for that fun destination wedding in the not so distant future.

Hire a local photographer

As opposed to bringing a photographer with you, consider hiring a local photographer instead. They are more familiar with the venues, know where the best locations are to shoot weddings, and may also let you in on a few other local secrets. Keep things simple

It’s easy for a wedding to quickly spin out of control financially and if you have the budget for it that’s great, but wouldn’t it be nice to save some money for your honeymoon or better yet, a house after you’re married? Try to keep things simple by making a list and focusing on the wedding events and elements that matter most to you. Don’t deviate from the list and focus in on those key factors the most.

Don’t lose focus on what matters most

With the wedding planning going on non-stop sometimes it’s easy to lose sight of the bigger picture, which is that you’re marrying the love of your life. Don’t get so focused on one day that you forget that it’s more than just that. Sure it’s nice to look forward to your big day, but when things seem out of focus take some time away, regain focus, and concentrate on the person you’ll be spending the rest of your life with, for better or for worse. Only then will you live happily ever after!
